How can you tell if a smoke alarm battery is flat?

Most 240V Smoke Alarms have a 9V Backup Battery. If your 240V smoke alarm is intermittently chirping, it typically indicates that the smoke alarm’s 9V backup battery is flat and needs replacement.
For lithium powered alarms, their built in battery should not go flat within the 8 to 10 year lifespan of the alarm. If your lithium powered alarm has constant chirping issues it might indicate a fault with the alarm or the alarms built in battery. In this instance you should arrange to have a technician investigate the issue.
Other Sounds : Frequent random sounds indicate a problem with your smoke alarms and you should get these types of issues checked by a technician.
